If you're looking for something a bit special - and different to do with your significant other - or on your own - this Valentine's, the increasingly popular female-empowering variety night, ‘Ember & the Vixens’, returns to Salford for a Valentine’s special…
The multi-award-winning theatre-maker Selina Helliwell, who is the brains behind ‘The Formidable Lizzie Boone’, ‘Fruit Salad’ and ‘Burnout’, is bringing another cabaret to Greater Manchester. The debut of her variety night ‘Ember & the Vixens’ last summer was a big hit, and led to a sell-out Christmas special ‘Festive Foxes’. Both were hosted at The King’s Arms in Salford.
These magnetic evenings are now becoming a staple of Greater Manchester's cool cabaret scene - and to celebrate that day in February when you're either definitely 'In' or definitely 'Out' (and we don't mean Shrove Tuesday) the next ‘Ember & the Valentine’s Vixens’ lands on 18th February at the King's Arms.
The theme of the night is ‘vixen’, drawn from Selina’s burlesque alter-ego ‘Ember Travixen’, but the core of the cabaret is about feminism and female empowerment. The performances include jazz music, burlesque acts in various sultry styles and spoken word, and sometimes there are storytellers and acrobats performing too.
So, regardless of your current relationship status, it's advisable to head along, enjoy the show and revel in fabulous entertainment and an atmosphere of female empowerment.
Selina is urging us to: ‘Come one, come all and join the vixens once again for an adult's only night of entertainment, sparkling with burlesque, music and spoken word performances. This time with themes of romance, anti-romance and broken hearts! Find the Firefox within on Saturday 18th February and join our Vixen gang.
