Soul Time In Wigan

Camerata's Dementia Music Café is back in town
February 2, 2023

Manchester Camerata are incredibly excited to announce new dates for their Music Café sessions in Wigan.

Called ‘Soul Time’ after the Northern Soul classic, this weekly Music Café is a place for people living with dementia and their family members to meet, make friends, chat about music with some professional Camerata musicians, have a go on some instruments and even write a song!

Sessions are free every fortnight - and take place on Mondays, 1-3pm at the Museum of Wigan Life (41 Library St, Wigan WN1 1NU).

Keith & Joan (who attend the café as he has dementia) were featured in a recent BBC documentary about the Camerata's award winning dementia outreach work. Keith was diagnosed with dementia when he was 53 and along with his partner, Joan, he has been attending the music-making workshops for people living with dementia for over five years. It's clear to see the crucial positive impact that music-making sessions have made on their lives.

Upcoming dates for the Music Café are:

6th Feb, 20th Feb, 6th Mar, 20th Mar, 3rd Apr, 17th Apr, 8th May, 22nd May, 5th Jun, 19th Jun
