A crowdfunding campaign by Morecambe’s More Music is entering its final weeks as it seeks to reach its target, just shy of £37,000, to deliver a huge, family-friendly environmental music festival.
The campaign is raising funds for the Three Degrees Festival, Morecambe’s youth-led community climate action music festival, set to take place in Morecambe’s West End in June 2016.
Co-produced with EcoCollective, More Music’s group of young producers aged 14 to 21, the project brings together music, creativity and local climate activity. At the time of writing, the fundraising target has almost reached, with just £1500 needed from generous local people to push the campaign over the line.
The money raised will support 26 school workshops, 10 youth producer sessions, and the delivery of the festival itself, which will premiere new music and artwork created by young people.
Marianne Barraclough, Executive Director at More Music, said, “the festival highlights what happens when young people lead creative action in their community. Every donation will help ensure the event is as inclusive and impactful as possible, and we’re hugely grateful to the large number of people who have already donated”.
The festival combines live performance with community-led activity, including a programme of workshops in local primary and SEND schools, alongside sessions with More Music’s wider participant groups.
These will culminate in a large-scale public event featuring live music, theatre, art, and climate-themed workshops.
